Baylham Care Home is seeking an experienced, compassionate Clinical Deputy Manager with strong clinical experience to support the Home Manager in delivering exceptional standards of care. This is a key leadership role within our friendly residential home, requiring a confident clinician with previous Deputy Manager experience and a passion for person‑centred care.
You will oversee clinical practice, guide and mentor nursing and care teams, and ensure the home remains safe, compliant and focused on resident wellbeing. This role is ideal for a Deputy Manager who thrives in a leadership position and is committed to clinical excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Lead clinical operations and act as person‑in‑charge when required
- Support residents' day‑to‑day, ensuring safety, dignity and wellbeing at all times
- Attend daily management meetings and provide updates to the wider team
- Assign tasks and oversee handovers to ensure continuity of care
- Oversee mealtimes, dietary needs and positive dining experiences
- Create and maintain care plans, updating families and professionals as needed
- Supervise and support nurses and carers in delivering compassionate, high‑quality care
- Manage medication processes including administration, ordering and record‑keeping
- Oversee specimen collection while maintaining dignity and privacy
- Lead quality audits and contribute to continuous improvement
- Manage clinical staff rotas to ensure safe staffing levels
- Report incidents and safeguarding concerns in line with policy
- Support end‑of‑life care with sensitivity and professionalism
Supporting Families and Visitors
- Act as a senior point of contact for families, GPs, ambulance crews and social workers
- Maintain strong communication with residents, relatives and colleagues
- Ensure families are updated on changes to health, care plans or clinical decisions
- Provide compassionate support during progressive illness or end‑of‑life care
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure CQC compliance and support the Home Manager with regulatory responsibilities
- Follow Quality Assurance processes and maintain robust clinical documentation
- Keep clinical knowledge up to date through training and professional development
- Ensure changes in residents’ health are documented and acted upon promptly
- Promote safe use of resources and adherence to infection control standards
What We’re Looking For
- Registered Nurse (NMC registered)
- Deputy Manager experience is essential
- Strong understanding of CQC standards and clinical governance
- Experience in a care home, community, hospital or hospice setting
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Organised, IT‑confident and proactive
- Compassionate, reliable and committed to high‑quality care
- Experience supervising staff and completing clinical audits
- Knowledge of person‑centred care planning and current best practice
- Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy
Pay: £50,000.00 per year
