Job Overview
We are a reputable and growing logistics company based in Pontefract, and we are currently seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join our dynamic team. This role involves the efficient and safe delivery of palletised goods using curtain-sided vehicles across the UK.
Responsibilities
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all road traffic laws and company procedures.
- Performing multi-drop deliveries of palletised goods to various locations across the UK.
- Safely loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring the load is secure and compliant with regulations.
- Operating and using a tail lift safely and efficiently for deliveries and collections.
- Utilising curtain-sided vehicles, ensuring the load is correctly sheeted and un-sheeted as required.
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly in line with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) regulations.
- Maintaining accurate delivery records and vehicle documentation.
- Communicating effectively with transport planners and customers.
- Remaining compliant with all relevant UK driver regulations, including working time directives and tachograph rules.
- Representing the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
RequirementsEssential:
- Possession of a valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification card.
- Valid Digital Tachograph card.
- Proven experience in driving HGV Class 2 vehicles.
- Experience carrying out multi-drop deliveries.
- Experience operating tail lifts safely and confidently.
- Experience with palletised delivery and the use of curtain-sided vehicles.
- A good understanding of UK road transport regulations, including driver hours and tachograph legislation.
- Ability to perform daily vehicle checks and report defects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A responsible and safety-conscious attitude.
- Experience with specific route planning or electronic proof of delivery (EPOD) systems is advantageous.
- A clean driving licence.
