Overview
The Quality Office will work closely with the Quality Manager to monitor and support the quality of provision offered by the Caspian School. The Quality Officer will be expected to build a good understanding of the requirements of partner universities and awarding bodies and the QAA Quality Code for Higher Education, as well as the Office for Students (OfS) conditions and compliance. The role is critical to support academic standards management.
Main Duties
- To act as the Academic Quality Officer for the on-going Departmental reviews, Partnership reviews and Course approvals as allocated annually, providing guidance and advice on the process and documentation, coordinating the planning, producing reports from the process, and reviewing the outcomes.
- To provide advice and support for colleagues in Schools and central Administrative and Student Support Services on academic quality processes and procedures.
- To support and advise CSA Committees and act as a minuting Secretary, as appropriate. This will involve working with the Quality Manager and chairs to produce agendas and accurate detailed minutes, with follow-up of actions.
- Drafting reports based on collation and analysis of data and information.
- To review and comment on course information, including programme and module specifications, to ensure compliance and accuracy with university partners and awarding bodies.
- To manage spreadsheets developed by Registry and work with managers to support the development and efficacy of electronic record keeping and the cross institutional sharing of quality-related information.
- To contribute to the ongoing review and enhancement of the School’s quality systems and processes for courses and arrangements for record keeping.
- To deputise / substitute for other staff in a Quality capacity, both in relation to general advice and queries and specifically in order to support key processes at times of pressure.
- To undertake additional responsibilities from time to time as commensurate with the grade of the post.
Additional Duties
- To research practice in quality management by other HE providers and develop expertise in relation to particular kinds of programmes, e.g. collaborative programmes, online courses etc.
- Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
- Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students.

Salary : Negotiable (depending on experience)
Essential Education and Qualification
- Honours degree or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a higher education setting and a clear understanding of policies & procedures.
- Experience of working with data and programme reports and developments.
- Knowledge of quality in higher education.
- Strong organisation & planning skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders including staff, students and partners.
- Ability to reflect upon effectiveness of process and to suggest and monitor improvements.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to produce reports.
- Good IT and office skills.
