Commercial Laundry Equipment Installer
South East & South of England (incl. London) | Full-time | Basic Salary £28,000–£34,000 + overtime
Are you good with your hands, take real pride in a job done well, and enjoy the satisfaction of leaving a site clean, finished and working perfectly? You like solving practical problems, you don't cut corners, and you get on well with different kinds of people?
Then we'd love to hear from you, because that's what we value and reward.
a&f (formerly Allsop & Francis) installs high-end commercial laundry equipment across the South of England, and we're the UK's number one partner for Miele Professional. We chose the premium end of the market on purpose: our customers care about high standards, and so do we. That means we need installers who take genuine pride in their work, people who position a machine carefully, leave a site spotless, notice the details, and do whatever the job needs rather than just the bare minimum.
You don't need commercial laundry experience to start. If you've installed domestic appliances, fitted kitchens, or worked in any practical trade and you're good with tools, we'll teach you the rest. You'll be working closely alongside an experienced team who'll train you up thoroughly, and your training will grow over time to include laundry repairs and servicing too, opening up real opportunities to develop further down the line for those who want it. What we can't teach is a great attitude, and that's what we're really hiring for.
In return, here's what's good about working with a&f:
You'll be well supported. You'll work as part of an experienced, close-knit team who want you to do well and will help you get there, not thrown in at the deep end on your own.
We treat people like people. Staff and customers alike, with dignity and respect. Our team regularly tells us how different we are to where they've worked before.
We give you what you need to do the job well. A company vehicle, all the tools and equipment, and a van fully stocked for the work.
We invest in you. Full training in a specialist trade, starting with installation and growing into repairs and servicing, with genuine room to progress into a service engineer role over time for those who want it.
A great attitude matters to us as much as practical skill. If you have good integrity, take ownership, and quietly pride yourself on always doing the right thing, you'll fit right in. We don't cut corners and encourage our team to always do the right thing even when it costs us, as this builds trust in the long term.
The package:
£28,000–£34,000 basic, depending on experience
Overtime on top at enhanced rates. Early starts and busy days mean the opportunity to earn is genuinely there, and the work is always plentiful.
Monday to Friday, 40 hours, with some earlier starts depending on the job
Company vehicle, tools and equipment provided
Full training and a real path to progress
Where you'll be based:
Our installation team covers a wide area across the South of England, including regular work in and around London, so you'll be out on the road seeing plenty of different sites rather than stuck in one place. Most of the installation team meets up locally at our head office each morning before heading out, but we are looking for an installer who lives closer to London (ideally in Surrey) and the M25 to improve our coverage and efficiency.
What we're looking for:
Practical aptitude and a real willingness to learn
Some hands-on or mechanical experience. White goods or domestic appliance installation, kitchen fitting, or any practical trade is ideal, but it's the aptitude that matters most
Someone who works well as part of a team
The ability to problem-solve, learn quickly, and take care over the details
Physically fit enough to handle heavy equipment
Happy with travel and earlier starts (6-7am typically) as part of the role
Good communication skills
A full, clean UK driving licence
How we hire:
Shortlisted applicants come in for an interview that includes a short practical assessment, using tools and a couple of basic tasks. It's not a test of what you already know; it's there to see how you learn and how you work. So don't be put off if you're new to this kind of equipment.
If you've read this far and thought "this sounds like the role for me", we'd love to hear from you.
Please include a short cover letter with your application telling us why you feel you'd be a good fit for the role and for a&f.
