Cura Vita Complex Care Group is recruiting Female Support Workers to join an established complex-care package in Milton Keynes.
We are specifically looking to strengthen the day team, with 12-hour day shifts running from 08:00–20:00 across a seven-day service.
This opportunity requires a car driver. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving as part of the requirements of the care package.
ABOUT THE PERSON YOU'LL SUPPORT
This is an opportunity for someone who understands that good support is about much more than completing care tasks.
The person we support is an autistic young woman who needs staff who can build trust, communicate calmly, provide consistency and genuinely engage with her as an individual.
She enjoys animals – particularly horses – as well as photography, crafts, swimming, card games, music, social media and watching her favourite TV programmes.
She responds best to people who are calm, patient and emotionally measured. A loud or overly intense communication style is unlikely to be the right fit.
When she feels comfortable and regulated, she can communicate well and enjoys talking about things that interest her. When anxious or overwhelmed, she may become quieter, withdraw or need additional time to process information.
This means the way you communicate and respond really matters.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD MATCH?
We are particularly interested in Support Workers who can:
- Speak calmly, clearly and respectfully.
- Give someone sufficient time to process information and respond.
- Avoid overwhelming someone with multiple or repeated questions.
- Understand the importance of routine, structure and consistency.
- Explain changes or plans clearly and in advance wherever possible.
- Remain calm and professional when situations become challenging.
- Recognise when someone may be becoming anxious or overwhelmed and follow agreed support strategies.
- Build trust gradually rather than expecting an immediate relationship.
- Genuinely engage in activities and interests.
- Maintain clear and appropriate professional boundaries.
- Work consistently as part of an established support team.
We want someone who will actively engage rather than simply be present for a shift.
Whether that's playing a card game, getting involved in crafts, talking about animals or music, supporting meaningful activities or helping someone access their community, your ability to build a positive professional relationship is important.
THE ROLE
As a Female Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support in accordance with the individual's care plan, risk assessments and agreed ways of working.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building a consistent and trusting professional relationship.
- Supporting established routines and meaningful activities.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing.
- Providing calm and consistent support during periods of anxiety or overwhelm.
- Following agreed communication and support approaches.
- Supporting access to activities and the community where appropriate.
- Following care plans, risk assessments and agreed ways of working.
- Maintaining accurate care records.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and the wider support team.
- Recognising concerns or changes and escalating them appropriately.
- Completing all required package-specific training and competency assessments before working independently.
ABOUT YOU
Previous experience supporting autistic people would be particularly valuable for this package.
Experience within complex care, learning disabilities, mental health, behaviour support or other relevant care environments would also be beneficial.
Just as importantly, we are looking for the right personal approach.
You will need to be:

- Able to follow structured support approaches.

This isn't the right opportunity for somebody looking for a passive support role.
There may be challenging situations, and the person we support needs staff who can remain composed, follow agreed approaches and continue providing consistent and respectful support.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT
A full UK driving licence and the ability to drive confidently are essential requirements for this position.
Please do not apply if you do not meet the driving requirement, as we are unable to progress non-drivers for this particular care package.
HOURS AND AVAILABILITY
Current recruitment is specifically focused on day staff.
Day shifts are 08:00–20:00 and operate across a seven-day service.
We are interested in hearing from suitable candidates with weekday and/or weekend day availability. Your availability will be discussed during screening and considered against the current requirements of the package.
