Pay and Benefits
- £14.00 per hour
- Holiday pay is paid on a rolled-up basis
- 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern
- 12-hour day and night shifts
- Average 42 hours per week
- Opportunities for additional overtime
Applicants must have a minimum of two years' security experience.
About the Role
As a Security Officer, you will work across both clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital, providing a reassuring presence and responding professionally to a wide range of situations. You will be expected to communicate confidently and compassionately with patients, visitors, and colleagues while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
Essential Criteria
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- A calm, confident approach when working in pressured, stressful, or challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally and empathetically with patients, staff, visitors, and partner agencies.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
- Experience using or willingness to be trained in: CCTV systems, Intruder alarm systems, Radio communications & basic computer systems.
- The ability to maintain accurate records, including a pocket notebook.
- A valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current Fire Safety and First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training if required).
Desirable Criteria
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Experience operating CCTV systems.
- Conflict Management training.
- An understanding of the Mental Capacity Act.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Training and Development
Full role-specific training will be provided, including training in line with RRN (Restraint Reduction Network) Standards, ensuring you are fully equipped to carry out your duties safely and professionally.
