Salary: MPS/UPS Equivalent £25,00 - £34,000 FTE (Pro. Rata £21,000-£26,000)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 39-week contract

About the Alternative Provision
Early Life Enterprise are looking to recruit an Alternative Provision – Tutor for its Alternative Education Provision, this service supports young people on an alternative education pathway and youth program.
Young people on the service may present with various complex needs including, challenging behaviour, social and emotional needs alongside educational needs. ELE provides a holistic, alternative provision for young people. This is a challenging whilst rewarding role, teaching life skills, education and independence for young people to take through to adulthood.
You will need to be passionate about supporting young people, providing them with opportunities to reach their potential, you will help them come together and capture their views to ensure the voice of child is central in the design of service – planning and delivering exciting and innovative programmes.
We expect the post holder to initiate relationships with, young people, schools and external agencies. You must have the ability to communicate effectively with different groups, be adaptable to connect in a way in which the young people can understand

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alternative Provision - Functional Skills Tutor to support students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will deliver tailored educational programmes aimed at developing essential skills in a supportive environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives by fostering their academic and personal growth within an alternative education setting. The tutor will work closely with students, staff, and external agencies to ensure personalised learning plans are effectively implemented. This role would suit a HLTA or tutor qualified and confident to deliver maths and/or English functional skills up to level 2, who has the ability to deliver a variety of careers and PSHCE focused learning based on the needs of the cohort.
Duties
- Deliver engaging and personalised functional skills lessons tailored to individual student needs
- Assess students' current abilities and develop customised learning programmes to promote progress
- Support students in developing core skills such as literacy, numeracy, and communication
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to colleagues and guardians where appropriate
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to plan and adapt teaching strategies
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, behaviour, and achievement for reporting purposes
- Promote student well-being, motivation, and independence through tailored support strategies
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably within special education or alternative provision settings
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with children and young people
- Knowledge of functional skills curriculum and assessment methods
- Experience working with children with diverse learning needs or behavioural challenges is desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and track progress efficiently
- Compassionate approach with patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting student development
- Relevant qualifications in teaching or education are preferred but not essential; training opportunities will be provided for suitable candidates
