Ramage Young Design Ltd is a Glasgow-based civil and structural engineering consultancy working across a range of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Technician to join our team and undertake training as a civil/structural engineer through our structured apprenticeship programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting out in the industry to gain hands-on experience alongside qualified engineers, while working towards a recognised qualification and long-term career in civil/structural engineering.
About the role
As an Apprentice Technician, you will work closely with our engineering team, supporting on live projects while completing your apprenticeship studies at Glasgow Kelvin College on a day/block-release basis. Over time, you will develop the technical skills and knowledge needed to progress toward chartership.
Key responsibilities
● Assisting engineers with design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
● Supporting site visits and surveys where required
● Learning to use industry-standard design and CAD software
● Contributing to project reports and correspondence
● Attending Glasgow Kelvin College on day/block release as part of the apprenticeship
● Developing knowledge of current building regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards
● General administrative and project support duties as needed
What we're looking for
● A genuine interest in civil/structural engineering and construction
● Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills
● Good communication skills and a willingness to learn
● Candidates will study towards the NC in Civil Engineering at Glasgow Kelvin College. Those who already hold the required qualifications may enter directly onto the HNC
● Proactive, organised, and able to work well as part of a team
● No prior experience necessary, full training provided
What we offer
● Annual salary from £19,320 (base rate), with a higher starting salary for candidates with relevant experience, and a further increase for mature apprentices
● A structured apprenticeship with day/block release to study at Glasgow Kelvin College toward a recognised qualification (NC or HNC depending on entry level)
