EXPERIENCED GRILL CHEF / COOK WANTED – KAIJAH LOUNGE
Kaijah Lounge is an exciting new Zimbabwean / Afro-Southern grill and cocktail lounge launching in Moston, Manchester. We combine bold Southern African flavours with Brazilian-style grilling and modern steakhouse techniques. We are now seeking a talented Chef/ cook to join our kitchen team.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Grill Chef, Chef de Partie, or ambitious Senior Chef/ Cook who wants to be part of creating a new and vibrant dining concept.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a chef with:
- Experience in a steakhouse, grill, Afro-inspired, or BBQ meat on open fire
- Time conscious and accurate preparing multiple dishes as per order.
- Strong charcoal/open-flame grilling / Gas grilling skills
- We Grill African Sausages , Steaks , fish , prawns, chicken
- A passion for flavour, presentation, and modern twists on classic dishes
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to menu ideas
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook dishes to a high and consistent standard within service time.
- Work across grill, prep, and hot sections as required
- Maintain stock rotation and support inventory control
- Uphold strict food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards
- Support smooth kitchen operations in coordination with the senior chef team
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 2+ years’ experience as a Chef, Grill Chef, or similar role
- Experience with open-flame and charcoal cooking techniques
- Knowledge of or interest in:
- Zimbabwean / Southern African cuisine (braai, boerewors, pap, chakalaka)
- Nigerian dishes (suya, Grilled fish, grilled meats, jollof)
- Ability to adapt, modernise, or recreate traditional dishes
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
