Pembrook Resourcing is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established automotive retailer for an experienced Workshop Controller to join their busy dealership in Dagenham.

The Opportunity
As Workshop Controller, you'll be at the heart of the workshop, ensuring every day runs efficiently, technicians are fully utilised and customers receive the highest standards of service from start to finish.
Working closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors and Technicians, you'll coordinate workshop activity, maximise productivity and maintain manufacturer standards, helping to drive both operational performance and customer satisfaction.
This is a hands-on leadership role where your organisation, technical knowledge and ability to motivate others will directly influence the success of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the day-to-day performance of a busy automotive workshop.
- Plan and allocate work efficiently, ensuring technicians are fully utilised and workshop productivity is maximised.
- Monitor workshop loading, efficiency and operational performance to achieve departmental targets.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to a team of skilled technicians.
- Assist with technical queries and help resolve complex diagnostic or repair issues where required.
- Work closely with the Service Department to ensure customers receive clear communication and exceptional levels of service.
- Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and in line with manufacturer standards.
- Maintain high standards of quality, compliance, health and safety across the workshop.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, performance and the overall customer experience.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with experienced Workshop Controllers who have a proven background within a franchised automotive dealership.
We'd also welcome applications from experienced Workshop Supervisors or senior automotive professionals who have already gained workshop leadership experience and are ready to take the next step.
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Workshop Supervisor or similar workshop leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge within a franchised dealership environment.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and make confident decisions in a fast-paced workshop.
- Experience leading, motivating and developing technicians.
- A good understanding of workshop efficiency, productivity, utilisation and operational KPIs.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A customer-focused approach with a passion for delivering high standards.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
