This isn't your typical Activities Assistant role...
At Sainthill House & Cottage, we don't believe meaningful activities happen because someone gets a colouring book out at 2pm.
We believe they're built through laughter, trust, spontaneity, adventure, and truly knowing every resident as an individual.
We're looking for someone who can help create incredible days for the people who live with us.
One day you could be supporting someone to achieve a personal goal they've worked towards for months. The next, you might be taking residents bowling, walking on the Quay, visiting the beach, running a baking session, helping someone reconnect with family, organising themed events, or simply spending time with someone who needs company and conversation.
If you're looking for a role where no two days are ever the same, you'll fit right in.
About Us
Sainthill House & Cottage is a specialist 23-bed residential home in Exeter, supporting adults living with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
We're proud to be rated Good by CQC and have built a reputation for delivering genuinely person-centred care.
We're a family-owned home where residents are encouraged to live full, meaningful and independent lives, and where staff are trusted, supported and valued.
We don't just provide care—we help people build confidence, achieve goals, enjoy new experiences and live life to the fullest.
The Role
Working alongside our Activities Co-ordinator and fellow Activities Assistant, you'll help deliver an engaging, varied and person-centred activities programme that reflects the interests, abilities and aspirations of every resident.
Together you'll help create memorable experiences through:
- Community outings and day trips
- Sports, fitness and wellbeing activities
- Arts, crafts and creative sessions
- Music and entertainment
- Cooking and baking
- Gardening projects
- Seasonal celebrations and themed events
- One-to-one activities for residents who benefit from quieter support
- Everyday opportunities that promote independence, confidence and wellbeing
No two days are ever the same, and that's exactly how we like it.
We're Looking For Someone Who...
- Brings energy, enthusiasm and positivity every day.
- Is naturally caring and enjoys spending time with people.
- Has a creative mind and loves coming up with new ideas.
- Is confident communicating with people from all walks of life.
- Can adapt quickly when plans change.
- Is organised, reliable and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team.
- Holds a full UK driving licence (preferred), as many of our activities involve taking residents out into the community using our company vehicles.
- Is able to work every other weekend, as this role forms an important part of our weekend activities programme.
Previous experience in care or activities is helpful, but it isn't essential. What matters most is your personality, attitude and your genuine passion for making a difference.
What We Offer
- Competitive rates of pay
- Enhanced overtime and bank holiday rates
- Full induction and ongoing training
- A supportive and approachable management team
- Opportunities for personal development and career progression
- The chance to work within a passionate and friendly Activities Team
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives every single day
Please Note
This role is for 30 hours per week and includes working every other weekend.
A full UK driving licence is preferred, as supporting residents to access the local community is an important part of the role.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
Come and help us create extraordinary days for extraordinary people.
