The Role
The Warehouse Assistant & Relief Driver plays a dual role within our state-of-the-art Distribution Centre based at our Uckfield Head Office. The primary function of the role is to support the efficient operation of the warehouse through the accurate receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of pharmaceutical products to our pharmacy branches.
In addition, the post holder will provide cover for the Driver Team during periods of annual leave and sickness absence, delivering medicines and healthcare products to branches across the Southeast and London using company vehicles. The role is critical in ensuring that products are distributed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Duties
- Receive, inspect, and check incoming goods against delivery documentation.
- Accurately input and maintain data within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Store products safely and in designated locations.
- Replenish picking locations to ensure stock availability.
- Pick and assemble orders with a high degree of accuracy.
- Package and prepare pharmaceutical consignments for dispatch to branches.
- Assist with stock management and inventory control activities.
- Maintain warehouse housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Comply with all warehouse procedures, quality standards, and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements.
- Support colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
Relief Driver Duties
- Drive company vans up to Long Wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter size.
- Safely load and unload vehicles in accordance with company procedures.
- Deliver pharmaceutical products and healthcare goods to pharmacy branches.
- Collect returns and transfer stock between locations as required.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Ensure deliveries are completed accurately, securely, and on schedule.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when representing the company.
- Follow all road traffic legislation, company policies, and health and safety requirements.
- Be flexible to provide driver cover, including occasional short-notice assignments and early start times between 05:00 and 06:00.
