Are you a compassionate and caring person looking to provide care that makes a real, positive difference to the lives of the people you support?
Safi Homecare is growing our community care team across Wigston and Oadby, and we are looking for experienced Care Assistants who take pride in providing good-quality care.
Why our carers stay with us
For us, continuity matters. We aim to give our Care Assistants consistent rounds with regular service users, helping you build trust and meaningful professional relationships with the people you visit. That gives you the chance to really understand each person's routines, preferences and what matters to them, rather than arriving somewhere new every day. Oadby and Wigston is a compact patch, so your calls are close together, you are not driving across the county between visits, and travel time between calls is paid.
We are a nurse-led service. Our Registered Manager is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, so you have genuine clinical oversight and nursing support behind you.
Where you will be working
Wigston, Oadby, Great Glen, Fleckney, Kibworth Harcourt and the surrounding streets.
Who you will be supporting
Our service users include older people living with dementia, people coming home after a hospital admission or a fall, adults living with long-term conditions such as diabetes, Parkinson's, stroke and COPD, and adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities living in their own homes.
A good part of our work is reablement, supporting people commissioned through Leicestershire County Council to regain their confidence and independence after illness, injury or a hospital stay. It is some of the most rewarding work in community care, because you get to see people get better with your support.
Oadby and Wigston is a diverse borough and we welcome applications from carers who speak Gujarati, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu or Somali. Being able to speak with someone in their first language makes a real difference to the care you can give.
What you will be doing
- Being a friendly, familiar face good conversation, company, and time to talk while you work
- Supporting people to stay independent, doing things with them rather than for them wherever they can
- Helping people keep up the routines and interests that matter to them
- Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support, delivered in a way that protects dignity
- Medication prompting and administration
- Preparing meals and drinks, and keeping an eye on how well someone is eating and drinking
- Supporting mobility and safe moving and handling
- Light domestic tasks and shopping
- Accurate recording on our digital care system, so the whole team knows how someone is doing
For many of our service users you will be the person who notices first when something is not right. That matters more than any single task on this list.
Experience
This role is suited to someone with previous paid experience in care, whether in the community, a care home, supported living or a hospital setting. You should already be confident with personal care and comfortable working alone in someone's home.
We then build on that. You will receive a full paid induction, Care Certificate completion or refresh, and role-specific training including moving and handling, medication, dementia care and reablement practice. With regular supervisions and yearly appraisals, we support carers who want to go further into senior roles or on to QCF and specialist training.
Drivers
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred. Because Wigston and Oadby rounds are tightly grouped, we will also consider confident non-drivers where a suitable walking or bus round is available.
What we offer
£13.00 £13.50 per hour, paid travel time, mileage, holiday pay, pension, refer-a-friend bonus, uniform and DBS.
