Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Carpenter / Chippy Labour to join our construction team. This is a long term position 2-3 years. The successful candidate will assist with various carpentry and construction tasks on-site, supporting skilled tradespeople and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to high standards. This role offers valuable experience in the building industry, with opportunities to develop a broad range of skills across different trades.
Duties
- Assisting with fabrication and assembly of wooden structures and components
- Using hand tools, power tools, and joinery techniques to support carpentry tasks
- Supporting roofing installations and repairs as required
- Performing heavy lifting to move materials and equipment safely around the site
- Assisting with construction painting, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work as needed
- Preparing work areas by cleaning and organising materials and tools
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and site protocols
- Supporting skilled tradespeople in various construction activities to ensure timely project completion
Skills
- Experience or knowledge in fabrication, assembly, and joinery techniques
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment
- Familiarity with roofing, plumbing, masonry, electrical systems, and construction painting is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Physical fitness to work on-site for extended periods
- Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills
- Prior experience in construction or related trades is desirable but not essential; training can be provided for motivated candidates
