As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will support the Registered Nurse or Paramedic in the provision of care within the Urgent Care Service and will regularly work unsupervised.

To assess, treat and discharge patients within Band 4 Urgent Care competency framework including wound closure, S/C and IM injections, catheterisation, and focused patient history taking.
- To work within own competency, recognising the legal and accountability limits within the role.
- To support the Band 3 Emergency Nurse Assistants in personal and professional development.
- To take a leadership role for the supervision and induction of Band 3 Emergency Nurse Assistants.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day Emergency Nurse Assistant rota management including Annual requests.
- To assist and facilitate the clinical leads and clinical practice educator in the provision of “in house” training as identified by Urgent Care Service.
- To establish in house programmes on fundamental aspects of care in correlation with the clinical practice educator
- Take a key role in health promotion for Urgent Care and promote health options to patients.
- To provide patient care in support of the Nurse or Care Practitioner and Radiographer to unsure delivery of a high-quality patient care
- Participate in the audit programme particularly focussing on band 3 activity and standards of working.
- Record and report patient observations to ensure maintenance of accurate and up to date records.
- To carry out eye irrigation when required and requested by the Emergency Nurse or Care practitioner.
- To work within own competency recognising the legal and accountability limits within the role.
- Co-operate with and foster good relationships with other disciplines that are attending and treating clients to maximise patient care.
- Maintain good relationships and an empathic approach to patients, carers and relatives and refer them to a Nurse or Care practitioner for any questions they may have on the patients’ condition or for any suggestions or complaints they may wish to raise.
- Work within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures to ensure maintenance of safe working practices for patients and colleagues.
- Adhere to unit procedures for the use of supplies and equipment in order to promote the effective and efficient use of resources.
- Maintain stock levels of all supplies and carry out housekeeping duties, to support the smooth running of the MIU and OOH area.
- Ensure accurate filing and administration of patient case notes, including copying and sending of letters to GP’s, Clinics etc.

- Assignment of work will be by the duty Emergency Nurse/Care Practitioner/ Clinical Managers and Operational Managers.
- The post holder will be expected to work unsupervised and exercise initiative when providing patient care; however, a trained nurse will be available for advice and guidance.
- Work review and formal appraisal of performance will be carried out by the band 6 Emergency Practitioner
