Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Floor Fitter to join our sandhu.construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial and residential settings. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The ideal applicant will have experience with hand tools, power tools, carpentry, and reading schematics. Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare surfaces for flooring installation in accordance with project specifications
- Cut, shape, and lay flooring materials such as wood, laminate, vinyl, or tiles using hand tools and power tools
- Follow schematics and technical drawings to ensure precise fitting of flooring components
- Use carpentry skills to create subflooring or support structures as needed
- Apply construction painting techniques to finish surfaces when required
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building regulations
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout each project
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction, carpentry, or flooring installation is essential
- Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers
- Experience operating power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately
- Knowledge of construction painting techniques is desirable but not mandatory
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights if necessary
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in construction or carpentry are advantageous but not compulsory
