We are currently looking for applicants for the role of Assistant Workshop Manager at our WHEELBASE Lake District store in the village of Staveley, just outside Kendal.
You will be based on the Service Counter of our brand new re-fitted, and re-organised workshop at the UK’s largest cycle store. You will work with a team of very experienced cycle mechanics in a welcoming and professional environment.
We are looking for people who enjoy organisation, customer interaction and working in a busy cycle workshop, on premium bikes and delivering outstanding customer service.
We sell the latest products from the leading brands across all cycling disciplines – mountain, road, electric, leisure, kids and adventure.
You will be a positive team player; sales focused and offer a best-in-class customer experience through great dynamics, premium servicing, accurate service bookings and time management.
The role is fast paced, varied and testing.
About the job:
You will be a key member of the workshop team at our fully re-fitted professional workshop supporting the Workshop Manager.
We run a professional team of technicians at all our cycle stores, and you will need to integrate well into the busy yet relaxed environment of our pro-workshop. You will need to ensure all our customers are treated professionally, politely and leave the workshop feeling that they have received great customer service.
You will be required to:
- Support the Workshop Manager in all functions of our Service Centre including booking jobs in, quotes, workflow management, parts sourcing and ordering, customer communication, bike building, PDI’s and servicing.
- Be a customer facing Service Writer, booking jobs into to our workshop team and managing the flow of work as it progresses through the department, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Be technically proficient and able to work independently on a diverse range of bicycles. You must be able to PDI all bicycles, including electric and be able to undertake a midweight service.
- You must be up to date with the latest cycling technologies including electric bikes, electronic shifting and the latest suspension systems.
- Remain approachable, friendly and confident at all times when assisting customers.
- Give quick, yet realistic estimations for repairing bikes.
- Provide full support to the workshop manager and play your part in achieving department turnover and customer experience targets.
- Managing the workshop department entirely on the Manager’s days off, holiday and break cover.
- We are open 7 days a week and the role will require working at least one day at the weekend. The role is full time, 5 days a week, 40 hours.
- Ensure that your workspace is clean, organised and completely cleared at the end of the day.

- Demonstrate previous experience of workflow management.

- Efficient and accurate time management and workflow.
Hours: 9am to 5.30pm, 5 days a week, fulltime role, including one day on a weekend
