Trueform is a leading Manufacturer, Supplier, Installer and Maintainer of Architectural Metalwork to the Construction Industry and Transport Industry. Operating internationally, the company has major contracts in place throughout the UK and Overseas.
Due to the continued growth and expansion through the supply and installation of Architectural Metalwork, Smart City, Digital Signage, Wayfinding, Bus Shelters, Street Furniture, Transport Systems, Canopies, Tram Systems, Trueform has a requirement for an engaged and experienced customer-focused, technically and commercially competent NEC4 Project Quantity Surveyor to join our well-established management team delivering an 8-year c.£21.8m contract to improve NEXUS’s vision for improved public transport infrastructure in the Northeast.
About the Role
To provide hands-on commercial and NEC4 contract support for Trueform's multi-site Nexus bus shelter programme. Working closely with the Regional Project Manager and the Contracts Director, the role will combine day-to-day operational management support with rigorous cost control, valuations and contract administration, allowing the project team to focus on safe, timely and profitable delivery.
Job Description Key Activities.
- Maintain accurate cost capture across each work package and site, including commitments, accruals, actual cost, forecast cost to complete, value and margin.
- Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliations, project forecasts and concise commercial reports for the Regional Project Manager and the Contracts Director.
- Measure completed work and prepare, substantiate and submit interim applications/valuations, supporting invoices, payment follow-up and final accounts.
- Administer NEC4 processes and registers, including early warnings, risk reduction actions, compensation events, quotations, notifications, acceptances and contractual correspondence.
- Identify change, delay and disruption promptly; gather contemporaneous records and protect Trueform's contractual and commercial entitlement.
- Support programme administration by linking progress, site sequencing, Time Risk Allowances and change to the commercial position.
- Prepare subcontract enquiry packages, comparisons, orders and scopes; assess subcontractor applications, variations and final accounts, and support the issue of payment/pay less notices.
- Work alongside the Regional Project Manager on operational planning, procurement, labour, plant, materials, permits, demolitions, traffic management and site readiness where commercial input is required.
- Maintain complete, auditable commercial files for each discrete work package and provide timely information to Finance, Production, Design and Installation teams.
- Attend client, progress and commercial meetings; build a constructive working relationship with Nexus and the supply chain while escalating risks early.
- Support other team members in achieving their goals.
- Deputies for the Regional Project Manager and/or Contracts Director during periods of absence.
- Impart your knowledge and experience to team members and Trueform departments.
- Computer and MS Office literate, XLS, DOC, PDF.
- To perform other duties and support other projects as directed by the Contracts Director.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications and experience:
- Valid Driving License (Cat B) - Essential
- HNC/HND/BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar
- NEC4 accreditation is advantageous
- Practical NEC4 Knowledge and experience, ideally NEC4 ECC Option A; able to operate notices, time bars, compensation events, early warning notices and payment processes confidently
- Having an awareness of JCT and other bespoke forms of conditions of contract is advantageous
- Strong Excel, cost control and reporting skills, with close attention to detail and disciplined record keeping
- Commercially astute, collaborative and self-starting, with the confidence to support operations and communicate clearly with clients and subcontractors
- CSCS Card (Ideally Black or White Card)
- SMSTS or IOSH advantageous
- NRSWA Supervisor advantageous
- Experience of Highways and Traffic Management Works, specifically excavation in the Highway
- A good knowledge of construction methods and materials
