Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant / GP Assistant to work approximately 30 hours in our healthcare team. This varied role involves providing essential support to medical professionals, assisting with patient care, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine interest in delivering high-quality healthcare services through their already skill based as a Health Care Assistant. This position offers an opportunity to work autonomously as a Health Care Assistant, but in a team as a GP Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Assist GPs and nursing staff with patient examinations and procedures with essential skills as phlebotomy, wound care, health checks and ECG's.
- Prepare consultation rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Support patients by providing information, reassurance, and assistance during their visits
- Maintain accurate and detailed care plans for patients under supervision
- Record patient information accurately using IT systems and electronic health records
- Organise appointments, follow-up schedules, and manage patient flow efficiently
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and external healthcare providers
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment at all times
Skills
- Knowledge of Health Care Assistant practices and patient care procedures in a GP Practice
- Ability to develop and update care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients and team members
- Proficiency in IT systems - ideally System One and others used within healthcare settings for record keeping and scheduling
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Compassionate attitude with a focus on delivering patient-centred care
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with professionalism and discretion
Pay: £13.50-£15.50 per hour
