Role Overview
This Field Service Engineer position is responsible for supporting customers across the South West and South Wales, carrying out the installation, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory diagnostic instrumentation.
Working independently across a regional territory, you'll ensure equipment remains operational, minimise customer downtime and provide a high standard of technical support within NHS pathology laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs on laboratory diagnostic instrumentation.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, electronic, mechanical and software faults.
- Install, commission and relocate diagnostic instrumentation.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades in accordance with manufacturer procedures.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Manage vehicle stock levels, tools and test equipment.
- Participate in the on-call rota once fully trained.
Person Specification
- Previous Field Service Engineering experience on complex electrical or electronic equipment.
- Experience within IVD, laboratory diagnostics, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment or a military engineering background would be advantageous.
- Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding skills.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and organisation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Comfortable with 1-2 overnight stays a week
- An engineering qualification is highly desirable
- Happy travelling across the South West & South Wales.
