Marketing & Communications Lead — Part-Time
ESS Ltd | 15 hours per week | £12,800 per annum (£32,000 FTE) | Hybrid — home-based with travel across Somerset | Permanent
Please note: we are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this role.
ESS Ltd is a growing, CQC-regulated supported living and community support provider in Somerset.
We are looking for an experienced Marketing & Communications Lead to strengthen our external reputation, improve how we communicate our work and support our continued growth.
This is our first dedicated marketing and communications appointment, so it is a genuine opportunity to shape the function from the ground up.
You will work closely with the CEO and Business Development Lead, helping ESS communicate more consistently with commissioners, referral partners, families, professionals and the wider sector.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take an idea or brief and turn it into a finished piece of communication.
About the role
The role will combine external communications, website management, LinkedIn, PR, content creation and business-development support.
A key part of the role will be identifying the good work happening across ESS and turning this into strong, professional communications that help build our reputation.
You will also support our Business Development Lead by creating high-quality materials for commissioners and referral partners.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage a regular programme of external communications for ESS
- Identify positive stories, service developments and outcomes from across the organisation and turn these into engaging content
- Manage and update our WordPress website, including service pages, news, images and general content
- Manage the ESS LinkedIn company page and build engagement with commissioners, referral partners and sector stakeholders
- Create commissioner-facing materials including presentations, service profiles, case studies, referral information and other business-development assets
- Produce case studies and stories that demonstrate positive outcomes for the people we support
- Support PR activity, including identifying opportunities, drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries
- Help maintain a consistent ESS brand, visual identity and tone of voice
- Provide occasional support with recruitment marketing and careers events
- Monitor the effectiveness of our communications and recommend improvements
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who is practical, confident and able to work independently.
You should have:
- At least 3 years' experience in marketing, communications, content or a related role
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience managing and updating a WordPress website
- Experience producing professional marketing materials, presentations or case studies
- Confidence managing a LinkedIn company page and creating digital content
- Good visual judgement and attention to detail
- The ability to turn a brief into a polished finished product with minimal supervision
- Canva, Adobe or similar design skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities within limited hours
- Good judgement around confidentiality, consent and sensitive information
- A comfortable, hands-on approach to working within a small organisation
Desirable
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you have:
- Experience within social care, health, public services or another regulated sector
- Experience creating communications for commissioners, public-sector organisations or other B2B audiences
- PR or media-relations experience
- Basic photography or video skills
- A marketing or communications qualification
- A full UK driving licence
Why join ESS?
This is a varied role with real autonomy.
Rather than simply maintaining an established marketing function, you will have the opportunity to help define how ESS communicates externally and how our reputation develops.
You will work directly with senior leadership and have the opportunity to influence our:
- external communications
- website
- brand
- LinkedIn presence
- PR
- commissioner-facing materials
