Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electric Biased) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical systems within our manufacturing facility. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, ensuring equipment reliability, and leading maintenance activities to optimise operational efficiency. The ideal applicant will possess strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, supervisory experience, and excellent customer service skills to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults using schematics and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Perform repairs, replacements, and upgrades of electrical systems and components.
- Carry out welding and mechanical repairs as required to maintain equipment functionality.
- Lead maintenance teams during shift activities, providing supervision and guidance.
- Develop and review maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
- Assist in the installation of new machinery, including wiring, calibration, and testing.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, parts used, and system modifications.
- Provide excellent customer service by liaising with production teams to minimise disruption.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC programming.
- Competence in welding techniques and mechanical repairs.
- Demonstrable electrical experience with a solid understanding of control systems.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to machinery upkeep and troubleshooting.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance setting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, for clear communication across teams.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to work collaboratively with production staff.
- Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering are preferred.
