Rasogie Companionship & Befriending Service is looking for caring, reliable and compassionate Companions/Befrienders to provide one-to-one companionship and social support to adults across the City of Manchester.
This is a community-based role. You will support clients in their own homes and, where appropriate, accompany them within the local community.
The role is focused on reducing loneliness and social isolation, supporting wellbeing and encouraging social connection and independence.
Main responsibilities
Provide friendly, respectful and reliable companionship.
Spend time talking and engaging with clients in a positive and supportive way.
Support clients with hobbies, interests and social activities.
Accompany clients to appointments, community activities or social outings where agreed.
Support with shopping and simple errands where appropriate.
Provide emotional and social support while maintaining professional boundaries.
Encourage clients to remain connected with their community and interests.
Respect each client's dignity, privacy, choices and independence.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Follow Rasogie's safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality procedures.
Report any concerns about a client's wellbeing or safety through the appropriate channels.

Qualifications and experience
No formal qualification is required for this role.
Previous experience in companionship, befriending, care, community support or a similar role is desirable but not essential.
We are interested in people who are caring, reliable, patient, trustworthy and genuinely interested in supporting others.
Training and guidance will be provided where required.
DBS and safeguarding
Because this role involves supporting vulnerable adults, successful applicants will be required to complete an appropriate DBS check and any other safeguarding checks required for the role.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding, protecting vulnerable people and maintaining professional boundaries.
Important
This is a companionship and befriending service, not a personal care, nursing or medical care service.
The role does not involve personal care, administering medication or providing clinical care.
Working arrangements
Hours may vary depending on client requirements and availability.
We welcome applicants who are looking for flexible part-time work and may also consider people available for shorter-term assignments.

£13.00 per hour

This is a community-based role, and companions/befrienders may be required to travel to clients in different areas across the City of Manchester.
Recruitment and safeguarding checks
All successful applicants will be subject to the appropriate recruitment, DBS and safeguarding checks before commencing work with clients.
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
