Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced HGV 2 Refuse Driver's to join our waste management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring timely collection of waste from designated areas. This role requires a professional attitude, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate HGV 2 refuse collection vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Collect waste from commercial and residential premises, adhering to scheduled routes and deadlines
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of refuse containers, including those on flatbeds if applicable
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, including safety inspections and reporting any defects or issues
- Maintain accurate records of collections and route completion
- Follow all health and safety procedures to minimise risks during operations
- Assist with the manoeuvring of vehicles in tight or challenging spaces when necessary
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging professionally with clients during collections
Requirements
- Valid HGV 2 licence with a clean driving record
- Previous experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver is preferred
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for waste collection operations
- Ability to operate large vehicles confidently and safely over various routes and terrains
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- A responsible attitude towards health and safety standards at all times
