Midpoint Homes / Midpoint Property provides temporary accommodation across Newport in partnership with the local council, housing families and individuals across a portfolio of buildings. We're looking for two reliable, personable receptionists to be the first point of contact for our residents and to help keep our buildings running smoothly day to day.
The Role
As a Hostel Receptionist, you'll be based on-site and act as the main point of contact for residents, visitors, and contractors. You'll manage guest check-ins, carry out regular room inspections, keep on top of general building upkeep, and make sure accurate records are kept of everything that happens on site during your shift. You'll be working closely with the wider site team, including maintenance and management, to keep the building safe, clean, and well run.
Key Responsibilities
● Check guests in and out accurately using our systems, ensuring all required information is recorded correctly
● Carry out regular room inspections, checking condition, cleanliness, and any maintenance issues, and reporting findings accurately
● Complete daily sign-in/sign-out sheets and shift handover records without fail
● Report any maintenance issues promptly to the relevant team and log them accurately
● Support general building upkeep and cleanliness, including light cleaning duties as needed
● Act as the first point of contact for residents, dealing with queries, concerns, and requests professionally and calmly
● Monitor the building for any safeguarding, security, or welfare concerns and escalate appropriately
● Work closely with the Temporary Accommodation Manager and wider team, including security and maintenance staff, to ensure smooth day-to-day running
● Keep accurate, up-to-date records across all systems and paperwork used on site
● Follow all health & safety and safeguarding procedures at all times
What We're Looking For
Essential:
● Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting
● Strong communication skills — confident dealing with a wide range of people, sometimes in difficult circumstances
● Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a small on-site team
● Able to work a shift-based rota, including some evenings and weekends
● Comfortable using computer systems for check-ins, records, and reporting
● Calm, professional manner when handling resident queries or issues
Desirable:
● Previous experience in a reception, hospitality, housing, or customer-facing role
● Experience working in supported housing, temporary accommodation, or a similar environment
● A basic understanding of safeguarding principles
What We Offer
● Stable, full-time employment with a growing local business
● A supportive, close-knit on-site team
● Full training provided on our systems and processes
● Opportunity to grow with the company as we continue to scale
