If you are passionate about helping people and believe in the power of libraries to strengthen and uplift communities, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Join our vibrant frontline team as a Librarian – Customer Services and lead the delivery of a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused public library service.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape customer experience, inspire your team, and make a meaningful difference every day — enabling visitors, learners and families to access opportunities through our resources, activities and digital services.
In this role, you will provide overall leadership and management of frontline operations, ensuring consistently high standards of customer service across the library. You will be responsible for supervising, motivating and developing staff, setting clear expectations and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
Leading by example, you will champion excellent service delivery, proactively respond to customer needs, and promote the full range of library services, learning opportunities and digital offers.
You will oversee the planning, coordination and evaluation of library-based activities and community engagement initiatives, ensuring they meet local needs and contribute to service objectives. Working collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners, you will help strengthen the library’s role as a trusted and inclusive community hub.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will manage essential administrative and operational processes, ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient running of the library. You will take accountability for compliance with policies and procedures, health and safety standards, safeguarding requirements, and performance targets.
This is an active, visible management role, requiring a hands-on approach — supporting the team on the floor, maintaining organised and accessible spaces, and contributing to stock presentation and general library operations as needed.
If you are an experienced leader with a commitment to community engagement, service excellence and team development, we would love to hear from you.
