Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to provide personalised care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. The role involves supporting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being within a variety of settings including care homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. The ideal candidate will possess strong caregiving skills, experience in health-related environments, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in people's lives. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with individuals requiring specialised support, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other chronic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised care plans tailored to each individual’s needs, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Administer medication in accordance with prescribed protocols and document all medication administration accurately.
- Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional requirements are met while respecting dietary restrictions.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting where necessary, using appropriate techniques and equipment for safety.
- Manage behaviour effectively through compassionate behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being and social engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and client progress in compliance with organisational policies.
- Support clients with medical appointments or outings by providing transportation when required.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to update care plans and ensure holistic support for clients’ health needs.
- Uphold health and safety standards at all times, including infection control procedures such as COVID-19 precautions.
Requirements
- Previous experience in nursing homes, care homes, home care or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
- mental health experience is key , autism, LD experience required
- Valid first aid certification is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and effectively support mobility needs of clients.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow detailed care plans accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to engage empathetically with clients and coordinate with team members.
- Valid driving licence is preferred for roles involving client transportation.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in caring for vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This role provides an enriching opportunity to support individuals through meaningful caregiving while developing professional skills within the health and social care sector.
Pay: £13.00-£18.00 per hour
