About Tidal Swim Club
Tidal Swim Club provides high-quality swimming lessons for children aged two and above. Our lessons focus on individual progress, water confidence, safety and strong swimming technique. We maintain small classes of no more than four swimmers to ensure every swimmer receives appropriate support and feedback.
The Role
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and qualified Swim Instructor to deliver safe, engaging and progressive swimming lessons on Saturday mornings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of each swimmer while maintaining a positive, professional and inclusive pool environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured swimming lessons in line with the Tidal Swim Club programme.
- Assess swimmers’ abilities and monitor their ongoing progress.
- Provide clear, constructive and age-appropriate instruction.
- Adapt activities to support different abilities, confidence levels and learning needs.
- Maintain high standards of safety, supervision and safeguarding.
- Complete registers, progress records and other required lesson documentation.
- Set up and safely store swimming equipment.
- Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, colleagues and venue staff.
- Work effectively with Swim Assistants and other members of the teaching team.
- Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or equipment issues promptly.
- Follow Tidal Swim Club policies, procedures, staff handbook and code of conduct.
- Attend relevant staff training and meetings when required.
Essential Requirements
- A recognised Level 2 swimming teaching qualification, such as Swim England Swimming Teacher or STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming.
- Current safeguarding training.
- Current appropriate lifesaving or rescue qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
- Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one before starting.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A professional, patient and encouraging approach.
- Ability to work reliably every Saturday from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Desirable Experience
- Experience teaching children from age two upwards.
- Experience working with small-group swimming lessons.
- Experience supporting swimmers with different abilities or additional needs.
- Paediatric first-aid qualification.
- Additional aquatic teaching or coaching qualifications.
Working Hours
The core hours for this role are:
Saturday: 9:00am–11:00am
There may be opportunities to take on additional teaching hours, holiday programmes, staff cover or sessions at other Tidal Swim Club locations. Any additional hours will be optional and agreed in advance.
