Job Purpose
To set up, operate and maintain laser marking and laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality nameplates, labels, signs and printed components to customer specifications. The role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work from technical drawings and job instructions, and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Rudd Macnamara manufactures printed components, nameplates, labels and signage for a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, industrial and rail sectors, using processes such as laser marking, screen printing, digital printing and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate laser marking and laser cutting machinery in accordance with production schedules.
- Load and verify programs, materials and job specifications.
- Produce components to customer drawings, artwork and quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimise quality and efficiency.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment.
- Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet specification and customer requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and production documentation.
- Identify and report defects, non-conformances or production issues.
- Complete production records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
- Assist with assembly, finishing, packaging and dispatch activities when required.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and quality departments.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience operating laser cutting or laser marking machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience producing aerospace, automotive or industrial components.
- Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Experience using measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers and gauges.
- Understanding of barcode, QR code and serial number marking processes.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
