Rutledge Recruitment is currently seeking experienced Assembly Fitters to join a leading engineering and manufacturing company based in the Castledawson area.
Role Overview
As an Assembly Fitter, you will play a key role in the mechanical build and production of industrial machinery. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for accurately assembling and fitting machinery to engineering drawings and specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday
- 7:30am–5:30pm
- 38 hours per week
- Additional hours may be required depending on production demands
- Overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate
Pay Rate
- Starting from £14.50–£15.00 per hour depending on experience
Duties Include
- Mechanical assembly and fitting of industrial machinery to engineering drawings and bills of materials
- Installing mechanical components including gearboxes, bearings, shafts, guards and conveyors
- Preparing machinery for internal testing and final inspection
- Using hand tools, power tools and lifting equipment safely and effectively
- Assisting with the strip-down, refurbishment and rebuild of used machinery
- Identifying and reporting build issues, material shortages and potential design improvements
- Completing production check sheets and job documentation accurately
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Working to production schedules and meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, waste reduction and quality control
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar mechanical assembly or fitting role
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Experience working with industrial equipment or heavy machinery is highly desirable
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Mechanical engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship is preferred
- Forklift, overhead crane or lifting and rigging experience would be advantageous
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety and high standards of workmanship
