We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Shop Supervisor to join the team at Batsford Garden Centre.
This is a hands-on role supporting the Shop Manager in the day-to-day running of our busy garden centre shop. You’ll help lead the shop floor team, deliver excellent customer service and ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing tills, maintaining floats and cashing up
- Supporting and supervising shop assistants and seasonal staff
- Serving customers and handling customer enquiries in person and by telephone
- Assisting with merchandising and stock replenishment
- Helping with deliveries, stock control and annual stock take
- Acting as a key holder, including locking and alarming the premises when required
- Supporting high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the shop and surrounding areas
- Assisting customers with purchases, including heavier items where necessary
- Providing support to other areas of the Garden Centre during busy periods
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Enjoys working as part of a team
- Is confident supervising staff and prioritising tasks
- Is practical, flexible and willing to take a hands-on approach
- Can work in a busy retail environment
- Has an interest in gardening, plants or garden retail (desirable but not essential)
Full training will be provided, including First Aid and Fire Marshal training.
Working Hours: This is a full-time position working every other weekend on a rota basis, with one fixed weekday off.
Please note this role involves some manual handling and heavy lifting. Safe lifting practices are always encouraged and supported.
