About Us
Cafe Fresco is a busy café restaurant based within Rejects Department Store, serving quality food in a fast-paced but friendly daytime environment. We are looking for a strong Kitchen Supervisor / 2nd Chef to support the day-to-day running of our kitchen and help maintain high standards during service.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a busy kitchen environment but wants a better work-life balance than traditional hospitality roles.

The Role
This is a hands-on role within a busy café kitchen. You will work closely with the Head Chef and management team to help oversee service, maintain kitchen standards, support the team, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
The role also includes supporting the commercial performance of the kitchen through rota management, cost control, stock management, and identifying opportunities to improve sales and efficiency.
We are looking for someone reliable, organised, calm under pressure, and confident working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Prepare and cook food to a high standard
- Help maintain smooth service during busy periods
- Support and supervise kitchen staff when required
- Assist with staff rota management and shift planning
- Help control food costs, wastage, and kitchen spend
- Support stock control, ordering, and deliveries
- Review kitchen performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sales
- Assist in reviewing GP margins and P&L performance
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and food safety standards
- Help ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Chef or 2nd Chef is essential
- Experience within a busy café or restaurant kitchen
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Good understanding of kitchen operations and cost control
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Positive attitude and team-focused approach
- Reliable, proactive, and hard-working
