Role: Fitter – Burgess Hill Depot – 45 hours per week
7.30am to 5:00pm - Monday to Friday
About you:
Are you a determined individual with experience working with Plant Machinery? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Plant Fitter to join our talented and high respected team at our Burgess Hill Depot.
You will be responsible for for inspecting, testing, servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of small tools, power tools and light hire equipment to ensure each item is safe, compliant, reliable and ready for use. The role covers both the company’s hire fleet and customer-owned small tool equipment brought in for diagnosis and repair. Duties include carrying out pre-hire and post-hire inspections, planned servicing, fault diagnosis, component replacement and functional safety checks across petrol, diesel, 2-stroke, 4-stroke and electrical equipment, in accordance with manufacturer guidance, company procedures and applicable safety requirements. The Tool Hire Fitter maintains accurate service and repair records, communicates clearly with customers and depot colleagues, prioritises work to minimise downtime, and helps ensure efficient workshop operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Essential:
- Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong practical understanding of small tools, power tools and light hire equipment, including mechanical and electrical systems and 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
- Ensure all inspections, servicing, testing and repairs are completed to a high standard in accordance with manufacturer guidance and company quality requirements.
- Ability to diagnose faults quickly and efficiently, identify root causes and complete safe, effective repairs to hire-fleet and customer-owned equipment.
- Always ensures work is completed to a high standard
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong customer-service focus, with the ability to discuss faults clearly, provide repair updates and ensure equipment is safe and reliable when returned.
- Excellent time management skills
- Keep up to date with Company policies and procedures
- Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Good knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and diesel fault-finding
- Qualified diesel mechanic
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a tool hire, small tools, workshop fitting or similar mechanical repair environment is desirable. The role requires practical experience of servicing and repairing a varied range of petrol, diesel and electrical equipment, together with a willingness to complete relevant product, safety and inspection-and-testing training. A full UK driving licence is desirable, as occasional equipment collection, delivery or attendance at customer premises may be required.
