Action Forestry Services are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals from Biggar and the surrounding area to join our team on a self-employed basis.
We are interested in hearing from both experienced forestry workers and those looking to start a career in the forestry industry. This could be particularly suitable for school leavers or anyone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and is keen to learn new skills.
The Work
Depending on experience and qualifications, work may include:
- Tree planting
- Hand weeding
- Mechanical weeding / brushcutter work
- Herbicide spraying
- General forestry maintenance and establishment work
Experience & Training
Previous forestry experience is not essential. On-the-job training and supervision can be provided for inexperienced candidates.
Certain activities, such as herbicide spraying and operating specific machinery, require recognised qualifications. Further certification may therefore be required before carrying out some types of work.
Candidates who already hold relevant forestry qualifications, including PA1/PA6, brushcutter, ATV or forestry first aid qualifications, are also encouraged to apply.
We are looking for people who are:
- Reliable and willing to work
- Comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work
- Prepared to work outside in varying weather conditions
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Willing to learn and follow site health & safety requirements
- Able to travel to forestry sites
A driving licence and own transport are preferred due to the rural locations of our sites. However, for suitable candidates local to Biggar (South Lanarkshire), transport from Biggar to and from site may be available, so we would still encourage you to apply if you do not currently drive.
Continuous contracts/work can be provided and ongoing opportunities for the right individuals.
