Southend Medical Centre is seeking a Medical Administrator to join our friendly, dedicated, and supportive team on a part-time basis for 30 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday
- 7.5-hour shifts over 4 working days
- Monthly rota allocation
- Candidates must be available to work during surgery opening hours of 8:00am to 6:30pm
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a modern, forward-thinking GP practice that puts patients at the heart of everything we do.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Processing housing, benefits, and supporting letters
- Managing insurance and medical report requests
- Completing, monitoring, and recording audit outcomes
- Monitoring and responding to surgery email accounts
- Creating, facilitating, and tracking patient referrals
- Processing referral outcomes in line with practice policies
- Reviewing and triaging administrative requests received through our online platform
- Responding to tasks in accordance with practice procedures
- Providing occasional reception cover during staff annual leave and sickness
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment.

- Strong IT and computer literacy skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and GDPR compliance

Essential:
- Proven customer service experience
Desirable:
- Previous General Practice experience
- Knowledge of SystmOne
Training will be provided for the successful candidate.
