About Us
Pyramid Mentoring is a small, values driven mentoring organisation committed to person centred practice, dignity and choice. We are an approved provider of Mentoring for Alternative Learning Provision in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Somerset and provide Specialist Mentoring support for adults in South Gloucestershire.
With consistently high demand for our services, we are looking to expand our team across Bristol and South Gloucestershire for clients starting in the new school year.
Role summary
As a Mentor you will motivate and guide, delivering relationship based, one to one support that helps children and young people re engage with learning, develop practical and social skills and build confidence and resilience. Work takes place within the community or the home (or school if required) depending on the needs of the young person and their individual goals.
Contracts are zero‑hours to reflect funding arrangements. Hours are varied and flexible to fit mentoring around other commitments, with sessions starting at 2 hours per week with the opportunity to build a larger portfolio as client need and your availability allow.
School hours, after school, evenings and weekends available. Evening and weekend working is not an expectation of the role.
Adult mentoring opportunities are also available across South Gloucestershire.
Who we’re looking for
You may be a parent seeking school hours work, a student, someone returning to work, or combining this role with other part time work. You will be proactive, patient, resilient and skilled at building rapport quickly.
Essential
- Empathy, patience, resilience and non‑ judgemental practice.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently
- Access to a computer and basic proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Full clean driving licence, access to a car and business insurance.
Desirable
- Experience or training in education, social care, mental health, autism, learning difficulties or working with vulnerable people.
