Athena Skills Academy is recruiting trainees in railway track maintenance.
As a Railway Maintenance Operative, you could help maintain, inspect and renew the track infrastructure used by passenger and freight services across the country.
The training programme includes:
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Rail Engineering - Track Maintenance
- Level 2 Certificate in Rail Engineering
- Personal Track Safety
- Track Induction
- OLEC1
- Small Tools training
- Practical rail-engineering activities
- Health, safety and working procedures
Future responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with track maintenance and renewal work
- Inspecting rails, sleepers, fastenings and other track components
- Using hand tools and small powered equipment
- Preparing equipment and materials
- Reporting defects or safety concerns
- Working safely and effectively within a track team

Previous railway experience is not required. Applicants must be able to meet the eligibility requirements for funded training and the health, safety, medical and drug and alcohol standards required within the railway industry.
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
