We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and assisting with the timely production of financial information. Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reports, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Process payroll and prepare HMRC submissions.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by gathering and analysing financial data.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and support group reporting requirements.
- Process and maintain accurate financial transactions within the company's ERP system.
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions when required.
- Complete bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting.
- Work closely with colleagues across the business to resolve finance queries and obtain relevant financial information.
- Provide support during external audits and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance role.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Payroll administration experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting software.
- Excellent numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience within a manufacturing or commercial environment would be advantageous.

Pay: £25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
