About the Role
Power Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Tail Lift Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Peterborough. This role involves the inspection, servicing, maintenance, repair, and testing of tail lifts and associated hydraulic/electrical systems across a variety of commercial vehicles and lifting equipment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest safety and operational standards while delivering excellent service to customers both onsite and in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults, repair, service, and maintain tail lifts on commercial vehicles
- Carry out LOLER inspections and compliance testing in line with current regulations
- Inspect hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and complete necessary repairs
- Complete detailed service reports and maintenance documentation accurately
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicle to a high standard
- Communicate professionally with customers and provide technical advice where necessary
- Work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Tail Lift Engineer, Hydraulic Engineer, or Commercial Vehicle Engineer
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical fault finding
- Experience working with tail lift manufacturers such as Dhollandia, Ratcliff Palfinger, DEL, or Zepro preferred
- Understanding of LOLER regulations and workshop safety standards
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and customer service skills
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Maintenance, Hydraulics, or similar engineering discipline
- LOLER inspection certification
- IPAF or forklift certification
- Welding or fabrication experience advantageous
