Join Our Team as an Assistant Financial Controller
Are you a finance professional with a knack for numbers and a passion for payroll systems?We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller (AFC) to become a vital part of our dynamic finance team.
About the Role: As the AFC, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and engage with every area of our business. You will manage day to day financial operations while taking a hands on responsibility for our end to end payroll function. This is your chance to contribute to a thriving finance function by ensuring robust controls, precise accounting, and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the accounts department, ensuring smooth efficient processes and assisting with ongoing projects that drive financial success.
- Process the full end-to-end company payroll, ensuring all staff are paid accurately and on time.
- Manage essential systems, including purchase orders, invoices, rota management, HR and payroll applications.
- Execute month-end procedures, including balance sheet reconciliation, management account production, and payroll journal entries.
- Assist with ongoing projects that drive our financial success.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a similar position with direct payroll responsibilities
- Experience with Sage 50 Accounts or similar accounting software.
- Experience with Rotaready and Paycircle or advanced familiarity with equivalent workforce management and cloud based payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of core accounting principles combined with a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes.
- Advanced excel skills, strong bookkeeping abilities and strong analytical capabilities.
- High level of discretion, organisation, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent (candidates who are qualified by experience are also highly encouraged to apply)
- Experience in hotel accounting and payroll processes.
- Supervisory experience in a finance setting is a plus.
