Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on heavy goods vehicles, including trucks and trailers.
- Perform repairs and maintenance using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
- Interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems and wiring issues.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed to support vehicle repairs or custom assembly projects.
- Solder electrical connections and ensure all wiring meets safety standards.
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as brakes, suspension parts, engines, and transmissions.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and update maintenance logs accurately.
- Assist with the assembly of new equipment or vehicle modifications following technical specifications.
- Support customer service efforts by providing timely repairs and clear communication regarding work performed.
- Use heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large parts or equipment during maintenance tasks.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an HGV fitter or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly.
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting electrical issues on large vehicles.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance machinery.
- Experience repairing heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.

Pay: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
