We are looking for a Traffic Engineer to join our team supporting the Kent and Medway contract. This is a field-based role, working across the contract area with a base at the Aylesford depot. You’ll be responsible for maintaining traffic signals and associated equipment, attending reactive faults, carrying out planned inspections, and supporting commissioning activity where required. The role includes on-call duties, uncapped overtime, and a commercial van with beacons.
What you’ll do:
- Carry out maintenance of traffic signals and associated equipment, ensuring work is completed in line with site specifications and agreed service levels.
- Attend reactive faults across the Kent and Medway contract, carrying out fault analysis and resolving issues safely and effectively.
- Complete planned periodic inspections and maintenance activities in line with agreed schedules and SLAs.
- Interrogate traffic controllers, identify faults, and support the safe operation of traffic signal equipment.
- Carry out on-site risk assessments, follow method statements, and work in line with Health and Safety procedures.
- Ensure test equipment, PPE, and your vehicle remain compliant with up-to-date certification requirements.
- Take part in team briefings, toolbox talks, and site acceptance testing with clients where required.
Who you are:
You’ll have a practical, hands-on approach and be comfortable working in a field-based engineering role. You’ll be confident working with technical processes, following site specifications, and completing work safely and accurately. You’ll be able to work with minimal supervision, communicate well with colleagues and clients, and contribute to improvements in how work is delivered.
This opportunity could suit someone with traffic signals experience, electrical knowledge, or equivalent experience in electrical engineering. Experience working on traffic signal equipment, fault finding, maintenance, or commissioning activity would be particularly relevant.
Key Requirements:
- Electrical knowledge or equivalent experience in electrical engineering.
- Good general IT skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
- Comfortable working in a field-based role across the Kent and Medway contract.
- Able to follow technical processes, site specifications, method statements, and Health and Safety procedures.
- Willing to take part in on-call duties, with uncapped overtime available.
