We have an exciting role on offer within our Access and Safeguarding Service as a Social Worker.
To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2027.

We are seeking a Safeguarding Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualifying experience to work within our growing Access and Safeguarding team, which consists of a Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager, seven Social Workers, a Social Care Worker, five Safeguarding Outreach Workers and two Safeguarding Administrators.
This is a newly created post, focused on leading and co-ordinating multi-agency discussions and protection planning. While the post holder will undertake a small number of Section 42 enquires, the primary focus will be chairing adult safeguarding strategy meetings, overseeing and contributing to serious concerns procedures, and co-ordinating robust multi-agency safeguarding responses.

Safeguarding in Middlesbrough is changing and developing as we respond to changing patterns of abuse and emerging trends. we are currently working with the implementation of the regional adult exploitation strategy and are looking for team members who embrace change and are committed to making a difference to people’s lives.
The Access Safeguarding team operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a calm, confident approach to decision-making. You will provide safeguarding advice and guidance to professionals and members of the public.
You will need to demonstrate strong analytical skills and sound decision-making supported by in-depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Making Safeguarding Personal, the Human Rights Act 1998, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Applicants must be qualified Social Workers, registered with Social Work England, and hold a full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.

We expect our experienced Social Workers to hold BIA (Grade K and L), Practice Educator or AMHP (Grade L) qualifications as outlined in our progression criteria.
