Job Description: -
Skilled general machinist capable of operating Manual Machines, i.e. Vertical milling machine, (Bridgeport) lathe (Colchester), and Surface grinder (Jones & Shipman)
Duties include (But not limited to): -
· General administration of work allocation to small workforce
· Contact with new and existing customers / suppliers,
· Preparing simple purchase orders to suppliers.
· Preparation of workflow to meet delivery requirements,
· Day to day completion of QC system operation / documentation.
· Able to work without direct supervision
· Able to work to, and understand engineering drawings.
Background / skill requirements
· Preferably apprentice trained (not mandatory if right experience)
· Good thorough knowledge of engineering practices.
· Knowledge / experience of ‘conventional’ machining / fitting methods. (CNC experience is not essential, but basic knowledge would be helpful, simple CNC router)
· Mechanical engineering background essential.
· Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 is preferred.
· Able to work on own initiative and unsupervised.
· Experience in mechanical, fabrication & engineering disciplines.
· Energetic and flexible work ethic – multi-tasking ability
Salary
· Remuneration will be negotiable, based on experience.
Location
· Amberley Court, Sheffield S9.
Conditions
· 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday 8-00 to 4-00.
· Flexitime working hours available (with core hours 8am to 5pm)
· Overtime’ as, and when, required, will be available.
· Half hour lunch break daily.
· Full time permanent position for the right person
· Immediate start available, initial 6 months trial period
Applicant must also have a good mechanical engineering training and working knowledge of: -
· General computer skills, Microsoft Word. Excel, etc.
· Good telephone manner / confidence for customer / supplier contact.
· Liaison with the design dept.,
· Liaison with quality control representative and general management.
· Specific ‘on the job’ training will be given to supplement the above core skills.
The successful applicant will be required to operate and maintain the workshop day-to-day Administration within the company’s long-established quality control systems.
Occasional visits to customers / supplier’s premises in the UK may be required, Possible visits to customers to assist with installation of on-site projects.
