CrC (London) Limited are looking for applicants to fill an exciting hybrid Front of House and Technician role in one of our Pocket Geek Tech Repair stores in Colchester!
Pocket Geek Tech Repair is a Retail service network by Assurant, one of the world's largest insurance companies, and sits on the Fortune 500. Our goal with this network is to provide the highest quality repairs and service to both Assurant's insurance clients as well as to the public. Currently, there are 60 stores in Assurant's UK network.
This hybrid role combines the Front of House operation of the store with hands-on technical repair work. A successful applicant will support customers from arrival through to the completion of their repair, while taking part in the repair process for a mixture of mobile, tablet, computer and other devices to their manufacturer's standard, from multiple brands like Samsung, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Sony and Lenovo.
The technician side of the role involves engineering tasks such as:
- Logging onto Assurant's live system to update the status of repairs
- Physically replacing hardware components and updating software, to a Level 2 standard for all devices, and Level 3 standard for certain models.
- Liaising with Admin and Management teams and working together to ensure that the customer repair process is smooth
The Front of House side of the role involves:
- Greeting and concierging customers upon arrival
- Logging client details and creating repair tickets
- Setting customer expectations for service times, and providing support and empathy to customers
- Updating customers via software and/or calls and emails
- Handling payments and up-selling devices and device accessories
- Quality checking devices using software and cognitive functions with speed and accuracy
- Listening to customer needs and pointing them in the right direction for software or hardware repairs, device sales or accessory sales
As a hybrid team member, you will move between the Front of House and workshop as customer and repair demand requires, communicating closely with your team.
If you have an interest in engineering roles involving small and fine parts, alongside Front of House support and sales in a tech environment, this may be the job for you. Some experience is required in technical service, sales or customer support. Staff members receive Assurant official training and will have access to our knowledge base here at CrC.
Requirements
Typical requirements for this role are:
- 4/C in English, ICT and Maths GCSE
- Some personal experience with IT equipment and software (Documents/Spreadsheets/Operating Systems)
- Previous work experience in a related service, sales or technical role
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with medium risk tolerance will be essential, as you will be dealing with high-value devices and customer data which is priceless to clients. Repair speed is also of the essence, as we aim to repair all devices within an hour. All engineers are fully tracked on repair speeds, parts usage and repeat repairs.
Salary Details
Starting salary is £12.71 per hour, during which a 3-month probation period will be in effect. Salary is then negotiated after this period.
Commission is also paid for every device sold and for revenue generated in-store on a team basis, with no top limit. Our successful Front of House members currently earn up to £3,600 per annum in commission.
Working week consists of 5 days per week, working 7.5-hour shifts, totalling 37.5 paid hours per week. We do have some flexibility available depending on employee needs, and overtime is available. Our open hours are 09:30 - 17:00 Monday - Saturday.
