About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team on the Highways A57 Mottram Moor Link Road Scheme, this role will be based within the Manchester / Longdendale area

We provide high quality asset strategy, management, and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable, and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
What you'll be doing
- Cost & Forecast Management:
- Work in conjunction with the wider team to maintain an accurate Cost to Complete and Forecast
- Provide cost and value reporting for sub-contract packages monthly.
- Maintain an accurate cashflow forecast for sub-contract packages
- Sub-Contract Management & Control:
- Challenge all change, understand the route cause and identify recovery routes. When change cannot be avoided work with the wider team to develop the most optimum solution.
- Laise with the Commercial Change Lead if there is any opportunity to recover sub-contract change upsteam.
- Lead on the Sub-Contract NEC administration of Early Warnings, Site Instructions, Compensation Events and Payment Assessments ensuring all are issued to the supply chain, in-accordance with the sub-contract with appropriate governance having been secured.
- Risk Management:
- Work in conjunction with the project team and Risk Lead to identify subcontract package risks early, ensuring all sub-contract risks have an owner and are being effectively managed.
- Team Development:
- Support Graduate / Assistant QS development
- Act as a role model within the commercial team
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
Who we're looking for
The following experience/qualifications are essential:-
- Experience of civil engineering construction
- Relevant construction or business degree, or equivalent
- Has attained or is planning to attain a relevant post-degree qualification
- Numerical and analytical skills
- Commercial accuemen and confidence to communicate and manage sub-contractors
The following experience/qualifications are desirable:-
- Experience in the highways sector
- Knowledge of NEC Contract
