Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise preferably in a gastro pub setting, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an opportunity to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation are maintained consistently. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in menu development, staff supervision, and maintaining the overall efficiency of the kitchen.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including sous chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a collaborative and motivated environment
- Oversee food production processes to ensure quality, consistency, and presentation meet established standards
- Develop innovative menus in line with customer preferences
- Manage food safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Organise staff schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance to optimise productivity
- Control inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
- Train new staff members in food preparation techniques and safety procedures
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area in accordance with hygiene standards
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Demonstrated ability in team management and leadership roles within hospitality settings
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with staff and management teams
- Experience in menu development and creative food presentation
- Familiarity with restaurant operations and customer service standards
