Finance Manager
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Dependent on Experience
Due to continued growth, SOLIS Group is looking for an experienced, organised and commercially minded Finance Manager to join our growing team in Glasgow.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to take a key role within a growing business operating across the construction, industrial and retail sectors. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance function, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring robust financial controls, reporting and compliance are maintained as the business continues to expand.
Working closely with the wider management team, you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support effective decision-making, while ensuring the smooth running of the company’s accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting function of the business
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
* Manage purchase and sales ledgers, including invoices, expenses and receipts using Xero
* Complete regular bank reconciliations and monitor accounts payable and receivable
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements
* Support month-end processes and financial reporting
* Prepare and maintain management reports and financial information
* Monitor financial transactions and ensure appropriate internal controls are maintained
* Ensure compliance with relevant accounting requirements and financial procedures
* Monitor outstanding payments and support effective cash-flow management
* Work closely with project managers and the wider management team on finance-related matters
* Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and efficiencies
* Provide accurate financial information and insight to support business planning and decision-making
* Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with financial information
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role, with experience working at a level appropriate to a Finance Manager position
* Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, VAT and financial controls
* Experience using cloud-based accounting software, ideally Xero
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team
* A proactive approach to identifying issues and improving processes
* Resilience, adaptability and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and growing business
