Axcis Education is working in partnership with an Outstanding SEND Primary School in Greenford, Ealing, to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term roles starting in September 2026.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Complex learning difficulties
- Communication needs
- Sensory processing differences
This is a rewarding and varied role where you will play a key part in helping pupils access learning, develop essential life skills, and achieve their individual education targets. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Autism and complex SEND needs
- Support pupils in small classes of up to 10 children
- Create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning targets
- Use communication strategies, including PECS and Makaton, to promote engagement and communication
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Provide personal care where required
- Promote pupils' communication, social, emotional, and independence skills
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies consistently
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and senior leaders
- Monitor and record pupil progress, engagement, and achievements
- Contribute to the school's inclusive, supportive, and child-centred ethos
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism and a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- A strong understanding of complex learning needs and positive behaviour support strategies
- Experience using PECS and knowledge of Makaton
- Confidence supporting pupils with personal care where required
- A proactive, adaptable, and hands-on approach to supporting learning
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential
- A willingness to learn, develop professionally, and respond positively to training and feedback
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full-time availability from September 2026
