The recruitment process includes a mandatory week UNPAID work experience on-site prior to the job offer.
This is an Apprenticeship position. One day per week the Trainee Construction Site Engineering Technician will attend a course at a college with the aim to attain the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment. The course will take 2 to 2.5 years to complete.
Duties:
- Support dimensional control of construction projects
- Assist design teams with civil engineering solutions on construction projects
- Supervise specialist contractors
- Contribute to the control of health and safety on construction projects
- Record, control and report progress on a construction project, e.g. during site and client visits
- Contribute to the minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects
- Control the quality of works on a construction project
- Assist in setting out and levelling using Total Station and Auto Levels et al.
- Order and control materials such as reinforcement and concrete etc.
- Contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements, morning briefings and inductions
- Contribute to document control
Essential criteria:
Ideally candidates will have three A-Levels Grade a or B and GCSEs in Maths (Grade B / 5 or 6), English and a Science subject or equivalent.
- Full driving licence preferred, willingness and ability to travel; and
- The right to work permanently and legally in the UK
- Previous experience of working in the construction industry / on a construction site
- Interest in Construction and the Build Environment

- CSCS card

You will also need to have an understanding of the level of commitment required from you to successfully manage working in a full time role alongside furthering your education.
